Albatross Center

We got to see the last of the chicks, only 3 left!

From Hokitika to Christchurch

Shots from the plane.

Pictures

This is Hokitika.

Coral foot

A trip to the Queenstown ER and a round of antibiotics.

Driving to Dunedin

Aaron did a fabulous job chauffeuring me around. Not only did he remember to stay on the correct (or wrong) side of the road, he also didn't leave me behind or throw me out for giving him my many "helpful" driving suggestions. :)

Queenstown - walking to dinner on the pier

pearl shopping in Port Douglas, AUS

Back down

We took the little trolley down the hill and then went to find lunch.

Botanical gardens

On the map it didn't look to far away. It turned out to be a mile + of straight up hill, very steep-up at that! When we got to the top, the view of the city was spectacular!

On to Wellington

Aaron wanted to tourguide me on another walking city trek. These are the government buildings.

A Few More Wine Pictures

The different wineries we went to and the friends we made along the way (they were on the tour with us)!

Picton

We decided to leave Portage a night early. It would save us transportation time the following day and then we could also have more time in Wellington. But before we left, we went on a wine tour with Sounds Connection, Frank was our guide and driver.

To Portage

Talk about isolated!!!!!! We took a taxi to the town of Picton and then a water taxi, Cougarline, to the hotel.

To Christchurch

Even after the earthquake, Aaron and I decided to go any way. Walking through the airport and seeing huge cracks in the walls was a bit disturbing. We stayed in 1 of the 4 hotels still open, and it was far enough out of town that it didn't suffer any significant damage.

I only took a few pictures of the place where we stayed. We were not able to get downtown; many roads were closed so the funtioning ones were very congested. Also, the entire City Centre is blocked off. Over 120 of the buildings have to be demolished and they were still not done examining others. Very sad!

Our Lodging

The flooring is a native NZ tree.
